[Edinburgh: John Scot], 1558. Small 4° in 8's (182 x 131mm). Collation: s4 A-G 8 H 6 . Woodcut title vignette. (Marginal tear in D4 neatly repaired.) 19th-century morocco gilt by De Coverly, edges gilt. Provenance : Mount Stuart bookplate. ONLY EDITION. This is a work confirming the authority of the Church, in opposition to the reformers. The author was one of the chief defenders of the papacy in Scotland. STC 14932 (records only 4 copies: St.Mary's College, Aberdeen; University of Durham; National Library of Scotland and the present).
