KERRY JAMES MARSHALL (1955 - ) May 15, 2001. Color screenprint on Arches 88 paper, 2003. 508x400 mm; 20x15 3/4 inches, full margins. Signed, titled, dated and numbered 40/60 in pencil, lower margin. Printed by the Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, NY, with the blind stamp, lower left. Published by the College Art Association, NY, with the blind stamp, lower left. An excellent impression of this scarce print. The title is the date of a contemporary art auction held at Sotheby's, New York. The auction sales results are depicted in the style of a supermarket circular, including prices for artworks by Basquiat, Koons and Warhol. In December of 2018, Marshall revisited this imagery of auction prices in his exhibition Kerry James Marshall History of Painting at David Zwirner, London - one painting depicted the prices of the first auction of the African-American Fine Art department of Swann Galleries, held on February 6, 2007.
