KESEY, Ken. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . New York: The Viking Press, 1962.
KESEY, Ken. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . New York: The Viking Press, 1962. 8° (205 x 140mm). Original green cloth, spine lettered in yellow, original dust-jacket (short tear on the front panel, light wear at spine ends). FIRST EDITION OF KESEY'S FIRST NOVEL, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. A CORNERSTONE OF 60S COUNTER-CULTURE LITERATURE. The book's central premise, that the really dangerous lunatics are those in positions of authority, has earned Cuckoo the dubious distinction of having been banned by several US school districts since publication. Milos Forman's 1975 film adaptation won five Oscars, including best film and best actor for Jack Nicholson. A very good example of the dust-jacket with almost none of the fading that is so common for this title. Karolides et al., 100 Banned Books , pp.398-400.
