. A scribal copy, probably at Kino's own dictation, describing Father Kino's second expedition from San Bruno with Admiral Atondo, into the interior and along the eastern coast of the California peninsula, in February and March 1685, following his return from his crossing of the peninsula. Madalena de la contra costa' in search of richer lands for colonization, but unable to traverse the Sierra Giganta, proceeded south meeting friendly Indians, giving anthropological details as well as their diet, dwellings, languages, as well as superstitions, finding a large salt mine and a pearl fishery, listing fourteen settlements and describing the geography, flora and fauna of the region. This journey lasted until 8 March. An interesting local expedition in the region of San Bruno, which although unsucessful in crossing the mountains, did result in finding salt supplies and local pearl fishing, as well as local anchorages down the coast. This manuscript is similar to another in the Huntington Library, also scribal and unsigned, which was published in Colección Chimalistac , vol.XVIII.
