No producer has a higher average quality of vineyards, currently around 98 and no one is more selective when it comes to the grapes as Krug. With total average production at approximately 40,000 cases, Krug is comparatively a drop in the Champagne ocean. There are two key factors in Krug's outstanding quality and which separate them from almost all other producers. The first is the Non-Vintage Grande Cuvée is given priority for blending over the vintage releases, ie; the finest wines from each vintage are set aside for the Grande Cuvée blend before the vintage selection is made, not the other way around.
