This work depicts a young boy concentrated on his reading. He seems very focused and absorbed by the work. The tones used are pastel and dark, except for the bouquet of flowers to the left of the character which is composed of very bright and opaque colors. The outside landscape, also colored, invites itself into this dark room through a window behind the desk. Alix Aymé mastered the technique of painting on silk perfectly.
