LARGE COLLECTION OF CRICKET PHOTOGRAPHS, MAINLY PRESS, including the following: 1) Ca.100 photographs mainly relating to the Buenos Aires Cricket Club in Argentini an and other related subjects. 2) Photographs of the 1934 Australian touring team aboard the liner "Oxford". 3) Sir Jack Hobbs playing billards with a Cricket bat. 4) Post Card of the 'Mohawk Cricket Club' champion of the Copper County Cricket Team of 1910. 5) Signed portrait of Geoffry Wilson, inscribed with 'Best Wishes to Betty'. Wilson was a powerful early order right handed batsman. He was Captain of Yorkshire from 1922 to 1924. Toured once for the MCC team in 1922/23 to Australia and New Zealand. 6) Series of photographs relating in the main to Kent players from the late 20's and 30's, in particular to Alfred Perry Freeman. Freeman was a wonderfully consistant bowler for Kent over many years who relied mainly on the traditional bowling technique of line and length. He only had a moderate Test Career spanning twelve matches, his technique although more than good enough for most county batsmen was found out by the concentration and patience of test level batsman. 7) 1886 Australian Touring Party, post card, published by the London Stereoscopic Comany, on original cardboard mount, with title and team list printed on mount (slight damage to mount), 95 x 135mm. The 1886 Australian touring side was not what one could call a united team. It was riven with inter state rivalry between the Victorian players and those from New South Wales. This no doubt contributed to the three to nil defeat suffered by the team at the hands of a very strong England side. The tour was also notable as the last retirement from test cricket of Fred Spofforth who finished with 94 test wickets at an average of 18.41. Giffen said of him: "What a sight it was to see Spofforth bowling when a game had to be pulled like a brand from the burning. He looked like a Demon every inch of him, and I really believe he frightened more batsmen out than many bowlers have fairly and squarely beaten." Also included in this lot is a fine copy of C. V. Grimmett "Flicker" No. 2, and five modern colour photographs signed by the respective players.
