Larry Costello 1966 Philadelphia 76ers Signed Home Uniform The National Basketball Association's last two-handed set shooter, Larry Costello played college ball at Niagara University before he joined the Philadelphia Warriors in 1954. Two years later he was traded to the Syracuse Nationals who became the Philadelphia 76ers. He retired in 1965, but eventually came back for the 1966-67 NBA season after new head coach Alex Hannum told him he needed a veteran point guard. With 42 games into the season, Costello ripped his Achilles tendon on January 6, 1967 and was replaced by Wali Jones. He did, however, come back to participate in the 1967 playoffs. Costello ended his career for the second and final time in 1968. This Philadelphia 76ers home uniform was worn by Larry Costello during the World Championship season of 1966-67, a team known as one of the best of all time. On the left tail of the jersey is the "Wilson" label with the size tag "42" adjacent. On the front of the shirt is "Phila." The player number "21" appears on both the front and back of the jersey. All the letters and numbers are made of red on blue tackle twill. Costello has autograph on the front. Included with the uniform are trunks. In the waistband is the "Wilson" label with the size tag "36" adjacent. Below is a blue felt patch with the player number "21" chain stitched in blue. There is an autograph on the front left leg. Accompanying the uniform is a letter from Larry Costello attesting to its authenticity. Additional LOAs from MEARS (A10) and Grey Flannel.
