The Duke thanks his correspondent for their note and regrets not having been able to see him before leaving London as he had no time to go to Woolwich, adding that he and his daughters, Mary and Sarah, hope to embark from Deal later that day, further commenting 'I should have preferred staying in England but I trust I go soon enough to secure my return quite at my ease……However I wish to look to the best side and therefore anticipate my return at no very distant period….'
