MUSICAL AUTOGRAPHS - LETTERS ETC TO SIGNE AND MAX FIEDLER. About 170 letters or cards together with cut autographs mostly from musicians, most of them Swedish, but also from Germany and Europe, all addressed to Signe Fiedler or her husband professor Max Fiedler. Dated about 1899-1938. Ottorini Respighi, Richard Strauss, Edvard Grieg, Paul Hindemith and Carl Nielsen are some of the more famous. All letters or cards have been mounted on boards (taken from an album), some are cut, some have minor damages. Among the letters: Hugo Alvfén, Edvard Grieg (card dated 1/4 1897), Carl Nielsen Wilhelm Stenhammar, Paul Hindemith (2), Kurt Atterberg, Alfred Hedenstjerna (signed carte-du-visite), Ivar f. Andrésen, Elly Ney, Selma Lagerlöf (letter), Oscar Levertin, Paul Kietzky, Siegmund von Hausegger, Gurli and John Forsell, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Max Fiedler, Ottorino Respighi, Christian Sinding, Richard Strauss (printed card with autograph signature), Josef Hoffman Olga Neruda, Kurt Atterberg, Sophie Elkan, Wilhelm Sieben, Karl Muck, Artur Schnabel, Theodor Kirchner, Sven Hedin Florizel von Reuter, Emmi Leisner. Among the autographs (cut from letters): Otto Klemperer, Richard Strauss, Olga Neruda, George Schneevogt, Walter Gieseking, Tor Aulin, Oscar Montelius, Alfred Littard, Pablo de Sarasate, Adrian C. Boult, Fritz Busch, Karl Straube, Signe Hebbe, Hausegger and Wilhelm Stenhammar. Postcard from the Amar-Quartett (founded by Hindemith in 1921), with signatures by Paul Hindemith, Walter Caspar, Licco Amar, Maurits Frank. Musical autographs: Max Fiedler to his wife (2 bars, not signed), Franz Neruda (1 bar, dated 1899) photograph of Paul Grüner and Max (Fiedler), Vilhelm Svedbom (dated 1898), Richard Andersson (dated 1893), Olallo Morales (dated 1902, 1 bar), Wilhelm Stenhammar (dated Heidelberg Schloss, 1890, 5 bars). Signe Margaretha Weinberg (b.1872-1955?), engaged to Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar, first married to Oscar Kallenberg, second time to Max Fiedler. Max Fiedler (1859-1939), German conductor and composer, born in Zittau, Saxony, Germany. He was especially noted as an interpreter of Brahms. Provenance: Signe Weinberg (1872-1955?), married name Fiedler, and through inheritance to the present owner.
