1. Catalogue of the Choicer Portion of the Magnificent Library, formed by M. Guglielmo Libri, So Eminent as a Collector, Who is leaving London in consequence of ill health, and solely for that reason disposing of his Literary Treasures.... London: sold at Auction by Messrs S. Leigh Sotheby & John Wilkinson, March, 1859. l, 260 pp. 37 facsimile plates. Introduction in English and Italian. Later half vellum. Dampstain to plates, partial loss to presentation inscription, untrimmed. Provenance: Louis Scalia[?] (presentation inscription), few pencil prices. 2. [Continuation...] August, 1859. xx, 380, [2 ad], 13-40 pp. With buyer list and prices. Partially priced with buyers identified in manuscript. Original wrappers bound into 20th century half cloth. Provenance: Dr. Henwood (gift inscription from John H. Bohn on upper wrapper); Francis Jenkinson [librarian of Cambridge University] (manuscript pricing, identified by Carter); J.W. Carter (ownership inscription), gifted to; A.N.L. Munby (gift inscription and ANS from Carter, bookplate). TWO VOLUMES OF AUCTION CATALOGUES FROM THE SALE OF NOTORIOUS BOOK & MANUSCRIPT THIEF, GUGLIELMO LIBRI. ONE A PRESENTATION COPY, THE OTHER OWNED BY THREE CAMBRIDGE LIBRARIANS. Even though Libri had been sentenced in France, in absentia, for his outrageous book thefts, he was accepted in England as the victim of French prejudice and was able to live the high life off the sale of his books.
