Beschreibung:

[limited to 220 copies, of which this is one of 10? on vellum], (limitation statement states 210 copies), wood-engraved silhouetted pierced leaf border, ornamental initials, and press device by Charles Ricketts, dark green morocco gilt to a geometric design by Charles Ricketts, decorated with miniature roundels, circles, and flame tools at intersections, Laurence Hodson’s initials on upper cover within central circle, signed with HR monogram inside lower cover, uncut, 8vo, [Vale Press], 1899. *** Most of the vellum copies were lost in a fire, which also destroyed the block for the present border. The fire prompted the use of the flame tool found only on the surviving vellum copies of this book. The book was shown at the Wolverhampton exhibition, 1902.
