Four hundred fifty numbered copies. According to limitation page, numbers 1 through 250 all prints were signed by the artist, and numbers 251 to 450 were signed once by the artist. Numbers 1 - 50 were accompanied by a folder with special signed copies of the etchings. This copy is number 97. Vanina Vanini is a short story/novella published in 1829 by Stendhal (1783-1842), the nom de plume of Marie-Henri Beyle. It is the love story of the daughter of an Italian aristocrat and a revolutionary fighter who had escaped imprisonment disguised as a woman. Condition: Very good. Some toning of the edges of free endpapers from contact with the leather. Also some toning in the inner hinges of the endpapers, possibly from the adhesive used in binding. (I.e., most discoloration is the result of binding, not later water or solar staining.)
