Local Interest Philatelic History - an interesting collection of Bristol and surrounding interest philatelic history and ephemera, all relating to the Royal Mail or the Post Office, to include; an original ' The London Gazette ' newspaper from October 11th 1794 which tells the story of a mail bag robbery on the Bristol to London mail coach, an early edition (1899) of ' The Bristol Royal Mail ' book filled with illustrations, an envelope with Penny 1d Red stamp postmarked for Portishead, a Bristol & Portishead postmarked card for 1898, postcards, an envelope containing the Fee Farm Rents received by a John Hickman for the Master and Wardens of the Incorporated Society of Merchants in Bristol for the maintenance of a Hospital these the gift of Edward Colston for 1749, a Bristol Farthing, and other items. Interesting collection.
