(Nicks to imprimatur leaf and title, both slightly soiled, [A]4v with small repair, B8r soiled at corner, upper margins of quire F slightly tattered, burn-hole affecting letters in I2, margin of K1 torn, errata leaf frail and browned at edges, occasional stains.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, upper cover slightly blackened, extremities rubbed). Provenance : Stephen Martin Leake (1702-1773; armorial bookplate).

Although a late work, much of it was taken over almost unchanged from an unpublished tract that Locke had started in 1668. Stephen Leake, the owner of this copy, wrote Nummi Britannici historia (1726), the standard book on English coinage. Goldsmiths' 2941; Kress 1792; Wing L-2760.
