Editor's 1502 dedicatory letter to Marcus Antonius Maurocenus. Woodcut printer's device on verso of last leaf. 19th-century boards, manuscript title on spine (soiled). Provenance: Hermafore Zaby (contemporary inscription on a1r, "Hermafore Zaby Z.s"); early ownership signature on a1r (illegible); early manuscript marginalia on r2r and r3v; later shelf markings on spine. Second Aldine edition of this epic poem, based on Simon Bevilaqua's 1493 edition and corrected by Aldus from Morosini's manuscript. Marc' Antonio Morosini (d.1509) was orator to Emperor Maxamilian I and Procurator of San Marco. The first Aldine edition was published in 1502.
