Hand-coloured lithographic title, one (of 2) engraved maps by and after J. Tyrer, 48 hand-coloured aquatint plates after Lycett. (Lacks the map of New South Wales, first plate with a few minor closed tears just into image, tiny waterstain to plate 4, occasional light spotting mainly of text and tissue guards, variable light browning.) Contemporary half russia, gilt spine, dark green morocco cover label, marbled edges (extremities heavily rubbed). ' THE MOST CELEBRATED OF AUSTRALIAN TOPOGRAPHICAL PLATE BOOKS ' (Wantrup). These famous views were first produced in 13 monthly parts, July 1824 to June 1825; 24 plates are of New South Wales and an equal number of Van Diemen's Land.
