Circa 2009. This rare, unique and beautiful Scottish 16 bore (only one ever built by the John Dickson & Son Company) shotgun with blacked nitro proofed demi block 29" barrels. The barrels have been built with 2 - 3/4" chambers, ejectors, solid tapered rib with steel round front bead. Top barrel on left reads "JOHN DICKSON & SON". Right side of top barrel reads "21 FREDERICK STREET EDINBURGH". Barrel wings and top rib near breech are engraved with Celtic style fine scroll. Barrel flat stamped with "LP07" for London proof date, 70MM, 16 (in diamond), O, U, NP with sickle, 17-0 and "8029" for serial number. Barrels are smartly choked Modified and Improved Modified. The gun's lovely round framed action built on the concept of the Dickson patented trigger plate with a single selective mechanical trigger is auto-safe. Safe slide is checkered and fully engraved. The word "safe" is in smaller italics and gold inlaid. The nitre blued top lever is also engraved and right side of thumb piece is checkered. The coin finished action and other steel hardware is engraved with Celtic weave design and the engravers famous Zoomorphic engraving pattern. "John Dickson & Son" is engraved on both sides of exterior frame in banner. Blacked trigger guard with matched engraving on bow and extended bottom strap. Bottom strap also engraved with gun serial number "8029". Engravers signature is eloquently engraved beneath the gun's top lever. A beautiful reddish-brown Turkish walnut stock with straight lines and smoky marbling is furnished with fine diamond point checkering, Prince of Wales grip, horn grip cap, engraved oval depicting the motto of the Sutherland Clan "SANS PEUR" (meaning "Not Afraid" or "Fearless"). Stock is finished by a 3/4 checkered butt. The matching checkered narrow game forend is built with a Deeley-styled latch release with matched Celtic weave styled engraving. Trigger plate, breech face and interior iron metal is handsomely case colored hardened. Gun resides in its oak and leather luggage case with brass corners, cleaning tools, nickel snap caps, and round nickel oil bottle. Nickel accessories read "JOHN DICKSON & SON". Case with maroon leather trade case label. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels with 97% original black. Light silvering at muzzle and usage marks under forend. Action is mechanically sound. Trigger is crisp and ejectors are in time. Stock with light handling marks. Forend is very good. Case is very good.
