This extraordinary example of art in craftsmanship is made by Peter V. Nelson, who is known to be one of the U.K.'s greatest gunmakers. This amazing shotgun was built for the Queen's Golden Jubilee with London proofs in 1999 and built with 28" demi-bloc blackened steel over and under barrels with 2 - 3/4" chambers and ejectors. These barrels have a narrow and smooth tapered rib with dolls head, round brass bead, and adorned with elegant floral gold inlay at breech as well as just behind its front sight bead. The muzzles also have thin gold inlay bands around both barrels. The slender top rib reads in gold "TO COMMEMORATE QUEEN ELIZABETH II GOLDEN JUBILEE, JUNE 2002. BUILT BY P.V. NELSON, ENGLAND.". The bottom of the under barrel reads "THE FIRST AND LAST SIDELEVER." along with the guns serial number. The handsome and beautifully figured European oiled walnut buttstock with rich smoky figuring has a length of pull of 14 - 3/4" and is nicely complimented by drop points, golden floral adorned shield, sharp checkered English straight hand grip and a three quarter checkered butt. The signed "P. Coggan." case hardened floral scroll engraved side lever action is intricately inlaid with precious metals such as silver, gold, rose gold, and white gold. The beautiful sidelock action is signed "P.V. NELSON." on both left and right lock plates. The gun is built with a checkered auto safe slide which is also engraved and bears gold inlays. The smooth single mechanical trigger is case colored and guarded by a cast off rolled trigger guard connected to a long bottom strap (both engraved with gold inlay). The gun's game forend with Boss style wings is engraved with matching floral gold inlay and an Anson release, has sharp checkering, gold floral accents on forend escutcheon, diamond, and turnscrew. This incredible gun’s original case has unfortunately been separated from the gun, and it is now housed in an associated oak and leather case that simply protects the case as stands. CONDITION: Excellent. 95%+ color on barrels. Stock and forend with light handling marks and sharp checkering. Action and hardware is excellent. Oak and leather case is also in good condition. Side note: This is very likely to be the only P.V. Nelson Sidelever Over & Under. Stunning & beautiful gun!
