Engraved frontispiece after Sister Isabella (a little light spotting). Contemporary vellum (head and foot of spine worn, broken). Provenance : Gaetano Dattilo, 1760 (monastic ownership inscription on title and a4 r). First Latin edition of Mabillon's defence of monastic learning, first published in French in 1691. The work ends with a long catalogue of the best books (and the best editions) which should be included in an ecclesiastical library.
