MADONNA HANDWRITTEN LYRICS 1994 A sheet of notebook paper containing handwritten lyrics on verso and recto by Madonna for her song "Goodbye To Innocence." Written in blue ink with doodles in the margin of a six-sided star and a flower, this working copy of lyrics provides fascinating insight into the creative process of the artist. Reads in part, "you know better stop and think about how you get your kicks. god knows I didn't ask for this you know better stop stop and think about how you mess with someone else." Madonna has made numerous changes throughout the sheet, adding and crossing out lines and changing words. Large sections of lyrics here did not end up appearing in the final song, which appeared only on the 1994 Sire compilation Just Say Roe , Volume VII of Just Say Yes , intended to raise funds and awareness for women's reproductive rights. As such, the song represents one of the most overtly political songs Madonna has written or recorded. 7½ x 10½ inches
