Cadenet, Antoine Michel de. Disputatio proemialis philosophia universae. [followed by] Dialecticae fonsece brevis. [Southern France (Cadenet), 1507.] 558; 39 pp. Several charts and diagrams in text, one folding plate. 8vo (185 x 135 mm). 17th century bound paper boards. General age toning throughout, possibly missing an inserted chart, signatures loose, boards very worn and wormeaten, but internally fairly well preserved. An interesting early 16th century compendium and commentary on classical logic and especially the Aristotelian Categories. Accompanying this lot is a letter from the Mayor of the medieval hamlet of Cadenet en Vaucluse in the Southern Alps, 1969, helping to identify some genealogical records in the parish on the author. An unusual secular treatment of first philosophy. See illustration.
