Title: Manuscript Document, signed by Maria Theresa Author: Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria (1717-1780) Place: Vienna Publisher: Date: 1744 Description: 2 pages, as part of 8-page folio, the other pages being blank except for docketing and an affixed seal on the back. 13¾x8¾. Manuscript document in German, signed by Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria. Maria Theresa ascended to the throne upon her father's death in 1740, and her succession was challenged by neighboring European powers, resulting in the War of the Austrian Succession, which lasted nine years. Though she successfully defended her throne, she lost Silesia to Prussia, and her efforts to reacquire it brought about the Seven Years' War. The present document, though untranslated, does make reference to the King of Prussia, ratifications, Lord Hyndford, Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland), etc. With signatures of a few others, apparently clerks or secretaries. Lot Amendments Condition: Somewhat worn, stained at top, old folds, a few chips and short tears, still very good. Item number: 158481
