General Fabre Geffrard, the self-style Duke of Tabara (which he was not), had recently overthrown the Emperor Faustin Soulouque following a failed invasion of the Dominican Republic. This ledger records the manifests of ships sailing to or from Haiti during that time period, with remarkably legible and precise listings.
