With portrait frontispiece; 38 copper-engraved plates; maps and plans (35 double page, a few with coloring); plus a large folding map of Ancient Greece, hand colored in outline, at rear. (4to)10¾x8¼, half calf and marbled boards. Sixth Edition. Anarcharsis was an early 6th Century Sythian Prince / Explorer (B.C.) included as one of the Ancient Seven Sages, who travelled from his homeland on the northern shores of the Black Sea to Athens. This is the atlas volume from the author’s seven volume (plus atlas) work. Lot Amendments Condition: Binding detached and heavily worn; previous owner's ink stamp address on verso of every leaf, foxing; fair. Item number: 218180
