MCMURTRY, Larry. Terms of Endearment . New York: Simon and Schuster, 1975. 8 o. Original cloth-backed boards (some slight marginal browning); dust jacket. Provenance : Peter Bogdanovich, film director (ink stamp and signature; presentation inscription from the author). FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY MCMURTRY TO PETER BOGDANOVICH on the front free endpaper: "For Peter-- This Book with the offensive title love Larry." Bogdanovich co-wrote with McMurtry the screenplay for "The Last Picture Show," which Bogdanovich directed to great acclaim. Later, Bogdanovich wrote the screenplay for and directed the sequel "Texasville" based on McMurtry's novel. Bogdanovich was also partially responsible for the "Lonesome Dove" saga, having commissioned an original screenplay from McMurtry. They were unable to get the screenplay produced, and McMurtry subsequently turned it into the acclaimed novel (see lot ). A VERY FINE ASSOCIATION COPY.
