Lithographed title in atlas volume, engraved map and 165 (of 166) lithographed plates after drawings by Luciano Castaneda (lacks the second plate in the fourth part Anciennes fortifications sur le Paint-Creek ). Contemporary red hard-grained half morocco and boards (some wear to spine ends and corners). FIRST EDITION of a pioneering work of Meso-American studies and "an almost indispensable supplement to Humboldt's Voyage en Amerique , as it contains many interesting discoveries not in the latter work" (Sabin).
