Contemporary half morocco gilt (scuffed, rubbed); sold as a collection of plates not subject to return. LIMITED TO 25 COPIES ON COLUMBIER PAPER. Also issued in two quarto volumes for one guinea, this large paper issue cost (10 and was designed to accomodate the largest of the portraits without folding. The plates include portraits of the Nobility, Bishops, scientists, politicians, actors and artists. Many of the mezzotints are rare and fine impressions, some before letters or in early states; they include the Earl of Harewood, Thomas Knight, Edward Jenner, Joseph Nollekins, David Riccardo, Richard Earlom George Dance Countess of Oxford, Mrs Hartley, Lord Nelson, Lord Howe and the Duchess of Newcastle.
