MISSAL, use of Utrecht. Missale Trajectense completissimum: cum multis missis votivis nuncque antea impressis . Paris: Wolfgang Hopyl, 1 July 1515. 3 parts in one volume, 2° (318 x 211mm). Title printed in red with large woodcut in black, half-page woodcut of the Mass with large initial within woodcut border on a1, t3/4 printed on vellum with full-page woodcut of the Crucifixion and four-line initial, both coloured by hand, hand-painted roundel in blue, orange, red and olive green in lower margin of v2 (trimmed), woodcut border on A1, large woodcut on last page, numerous smaller woodcut illustrations and initials in the text, a few with some hand-colouring. (Small wormholes in lower margin of some leaves at beginning, lower margin of v3/4 and G1 strengthened.) Late 19th-century blindstamped sheep over wooden boards, spine in compartments (slightly rubbed, upper hinge split), g.e. Provenance : early gloss on a few leaves; John, 4th Marquess of Bute bookplate. Seventh edition of the Utrecht Missal, the third printed in Paris; Weale/Bohatta 1557. MISSAL, use of Cambrai. Missale Cameracense completissimum novissimeque impressum et emendatum; una cum multissimis devotissimis nuncque antea impensis . Paris: by Desiderius Maheu for Ambroise Girault, 1542. 3 parts in one volume, 2° (334 x 224mm). Title printed in red and black with woodcut device of Girault, half-page woodcut of the Mass on a1 within woodcut border, full-page woodcut of God the Father Enthroned on t2 (from another copy), numerous smaller woodcut illustrations and initials, text double-column partly printed in red. (Lacks t1, tear in E5 & 6 in third part, a few minor marginal tears, some leaves slightly soiled.) 19th-century brown morocco, spine in compartments (scuffed). Provenance : Library of Cambrai (inscription on title with duplicate stamp on title and last page). Adams L1181; Weale/Bohatta 230; not in Alès. (2)
