(Some light browning and staining.) Contemporary half morocco and marbled boards (corners repaired, some minor wear to joints and edges.) First Mitchell edition of the heavily revised edition of Henry Tanner's A New Universal Atlas, first published in 1836, second issue with Tanner's name removed from the title. 50 of the 117 maps are of America, including maps of each state and plans of New York City, Philadelphia and Washington DC. It includes an early map of Texas (as a state), and maps of Arkansas, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa and Florida. Phillips: 6103.
