MONTBLANC: No. 0 14K Gold Safety Fountain Pen, Lorenzo de Medici Design Precursor, In Original Retailer's Box, c.1925

Estimate
US$0
Price realised:
US$2,000
Beschreibung:

No. 0 safety fountain pen, 14K gold octagonal overlay (hallmarked 585), alternating barleycorn and arabesque panels, decoration extends to clip, black hard rubber body, no Montblanc captop star. 81mm. No. 2 gold Montblanc heart-vent nib. Excellent condition, overlay crisp and unblemished, black hard rubber section dark and lustrous. The overlay design is nearly identical to that of Montblanc's Lorenzo de Medici Patron of Art pen, introduced in 1992, and almost certainly served as that pen's inspiration. In original textured paper-over-boards box from Illum of Copenhagen (established in 1891, Illum is one of Denmark's premiere department stores, and is known to have offered an excellent selection of fine Montblancs in the pre-war years). -Wallrafen, Stefan & Jens Rösler. Collectible Stars I: Montblanc 1908-1947. [Koln: 2004], pp.58-59 (this particular overlay not pictured). Provenance: Property of a Gentleman.
