Beschreibung:

MOORE, MARIANNE Autograph letter signed addressed to Fidelma [Kirstein] , dated September 16, 1956. On the poet's 260 Cumberland Street, Brooklyn letterhead; 2 pp., 7 7/8 inches x 5 3/4 inches (20 x 15 cm); 33 lines of text, felicitation signed "with love, Marianne." * A Marianne Moore Reader. New York: Viking, 1961. First edition. Orange cloth. xviii, 301 pp. Inscribed by Moore on the front free endpaper to Lincoln Kirstein and his wife, "For Lincoln and Fidelma/whose quaint ways/cure one's myopia and/make life lovable./from Marianne/November 1, 1961." Spine darkened, internally fine. A delightful letter, in which Marianne Moore gives thanks for what was (to judge by her account) a spectacular impromptu dinner party with the Kirsteins, Moore, and "Monroe" [likely Wheeler].
