MRS H. CLARK Summer Scenes in Kashmeer . London: Day & Son, [1858]. 2° (532 x 340mm). Title with plate list on verso, 12 tinted lithographic plates by J. Needham after Mrs. H. Clark. (Title with 225mm closed and repaired tear and minor marginal tears, chips and wormholes, the plates cut close at fore-edge just into caption of plate 4, occasional very minor marginal worming, spotting and fraying.) Modern red leather, covers panelled with gilt frames, clumsily lettered in gilt to spine. Provenance : ink manuscript inventory number 14849 to verso of title and plate 11 -- evidence of erased stamps to title, and in the margins of first four plates and last plate. EXTREMELY RARE SUITE OF PLATES OF VIEWS OF KASHMIR. According to Worldcat, only six copies can be traced in institutions (2 copies at the British Library, National Art Library [the V & A shows a duplicate ghost record on Worldcat], London Library, Strassburg and Yale). ONLY ONE COPY CAN BE TRACED AS SELLING AT AUCTION (The Library of Robert & Maria Travis, Sotheby's 26 May 2005 lot 59). Not in any of the standard bibliographies.
