Musigny, Vieilles Vignes--Vintage 1962
1 magnum per lot
Musigny, Vieilles Vignes--Vintage 1962 Côte de Nuits, de Vogüé Level: 3.5cm; Foil capsule cut for inspection, Domaine stamped cork states "Musigny, Cte. G de Vogue, Reserve, 1962" "When this wine is "on", it deserves its legendary status and is one of the reference standards of this superb vintage. Unfortunately, the bottle in the tasting displayed almost overwhelming lactic aromas and while the flavors still possess good vibrancy and punch, the nose here was a significant overall detraction. 88/now Note: from a bottle tasted in January, 2004. Bricked through to the center with a ruby core. A wonderfully spicy, still vibrant and elegantly pure nose that is displaying some aged burg aromas (but no sous bois) introduces clean, fine, classy and still quite powerful flavors that still display some freshness on the long and punchy finish. There is the barest trace of acidity now poking through on the finish but this is in remarkable condition at 44 years of age and it will easily go for another 20 years though there is no improvement in store." BH, October 1, 2005 1 magnum per lot
