1389 NADJA BUCKLEY PINK TOURMALINE AND DIAMOND NECKLACE Platinum fringe of sixty-two well matched graduated rectangular step cut pink tourmalines suspends from zipper-teeth shaped diamond pavé links, principal gem 25 cts. by formula, tourmalines approx. 150 cts. TW, RBC diamonds approx. 5.90 cts. TW, ca. 1956. Signed Nadja Buckley on rail of principal gem setting. 16", 1 1/2" drop. 79.8 dwt. Provenance: Sotheby's, Geneva, Magnificent Jewelry, 1996, lot 409. Note: A Van Cleef & Arpels zipper necklace signed by Nadja Buckley sold, lot 169, Christie's Geneva, May 19, 2004. Nadja Buckley, born Countess Nadja Ostrovska, designed and made jewelry in NYC from 1940 to 1979. Retailed by Georg Jensen Inc., 1948, and Bonwit Teller. The remaining stock of her retail establishment at 30 E. 54th Street sold at Park-Bernet Galleries in 1955 after which time she concentrated on commissions.
