Title: National Historical Chart Author: Place: No place Publisher: National Historical Chart Co. Date: 1890 Description: Colored lithograph on paper, varnished, backed with linen, rolled (but lacking original pair of scroll cases with winding cranks). Approx. 595x41 cm. (234¼x16")/ Marvelous and rare American history timeline chart, intended for use in schools. The present example lacks the two wooden cases with metal cranks, intended to be mounted on a wall and wound from one case to another, revealing the progression of United States history. The chart is organized as a timeline history of America from the American Revolution to the administration of President Benjamin Harrison in 1890, when the chart was published. There is a great deal of information into graphic form, with the story of American history told in chronological order, aided by inset text, charts, tables, maps and illustrations concerning important events, inventions, discoveries, people and places. The chart divided into color blocks by presidential administration, listing each president and his cabinet officers. Below these blocks are portraits of the presidents and events that occurred during each administration. In the center, interweaving colored lines show which political parties were active, with the president's party on top. The chart also includes some questions for students. At the beginning, on the backing linen, is the rubberstamp "Copyrighted 1890 by the National Historical Chart Co." OCLC/WorldCat lists only one example, at Indiana University. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear, a minor stain or two, lacking the cases as noted; very good. Item number: 269803
