Contemporary green French morocco, all edges marbled. 6 7/8 x 3 3/4 inches (16.5 x 9.5 cm); [4], 296 pp. Covers rubbed with loss of pigment, spine faded to brown, some foxing and toning within. With the period bookplate on the front pastedown of the Pensionnat du Sacré Coeur, Besancon. An extremely important and accurate account of the Native American population of the Michigan region published in Europe, primarily Chippewa and Ottawa peoples, mostly written with great sympathy and considerable accuracy.
