Courageux at Sir Richard Strachan’s action off Finisterre, when the remanider of the French fleet after Trafalgar were destroyed. He is also shown on the rolls for an additional clasp for Java, where he served as an Ordinary Seaman aboard the Minden. He was possibly issued with a second medal bearing the Java clasp as his medal for 4 Nov 1805 was sold at Glendining in November 1907 and later in the Stansfeld collection as a single clasp medal.
