Né en 1861, Lucien GAILLARD reprend la direction de l'atelier de son père Amédée Gaillard. Sa fabrication était surtout axée sur la réalisation de bibelots. 1889: Médaille d'or à l'Exposition Universelle. Dès 1890, il développe son atelier en engageant des artisans japonais, et s'inspire alors de l'art asiatique. En 1900, il crée des bijoux «Art Nouveau», avec le soutien de Lalique. Sa reconnaissance dans le domaine de la joaillerie fut à son apogée vers 1903-1904, lors des expositions du Salon de Paris. En joaillerie, il utilisa beaucoup la corne et l'émail, ce qui lui valut un énorme succès. Belle broche en or jaune 18 k. Elle stylise une femme papillon aux ailes déployées. Le corps est représenté par une femme drapée à surface gravée. Les ailes partiellement émaillées sont rehaussées de diamants de taille ancienne ou rose. (Nombreux manques à l'émail). In jewellery, he used a lot of horn and enemal, which earned him an enormous success. Fine 18k yellow gold brooch. It stylizes a butterfly woman with outstretched wings. The mounting is represented by a draped woman with an engraved surface. The partially enamelled wings are enhanced by old-cut or rose-cut diamonds. (Numerous marks on the enamel).
