NEW YORK - CENTRAL PARK] Group of Central Park Reports, 1857-1870 . Comprising the 1st-14th Annual Reports from the Board of Commissioners on Central Park. New York: various publishers, 1857-71. Bound in eight volumes in 20th century cloth. 9 x 5 1/2 inches (23 x 14 cm). Comprising: First Annual Report on the Improvement of the Central Park ... January 1, 1857, this volume with an original wrapper bound-in and retaining the large map (detached from stub and with splits) and other detached plates; The 2nd-9th reports each retain a printed wrapper and numerous folding plates and maps; the 10th-14th reports also with wrappers but these illustrated photographically as well as with various plates and maps, many in color or folding. Various stamps and signatures, the wrapper to the 14th report mounted, many plates split or detached, several quite worn, several lacking, sold with all faults. A rare large group of early Central Park reports. These reports contain some very early New York photographs as well as Egbert Viele's large map and many interesting plates, including those depicting the proposed Paleozoic Museum.
