NOEL E. ODELL (1890-1987) Lieutenant-General Edward Felix NORTON (1884-1954) A series of three ALS, 16, 18 & 24 November 1924, 4pp. on three 4to sheets, to Odell, concerning a proposed visit and asking for details of climbing times between camps on Everest during the 1924 expedition. [ With :] E.O. SHEBBEARE. Two ALS, 20 April and 17 September 1925, 1p. and 2pp., recto only of three 4to sheets, to Odell. [ And :] Dr. Tom LONGSTAFF. An ALS, undated but ?1924/5, 2pp. on a single 8vo sheet, to Odell apologising for a missed appointment and speculating about Odell's climb to 27,000ft., "am I right in thinking that you could have walked to the top alone? That's what I do think from the little evidence I've gleaned." Tom Longstaff climbed Trisul (23,360ft.) in Northern India in 1907, and took part in Bruce's 1922 expedition to Everest. Provenance : Noel E. Odell (and by descent). (12)
