Faint stamp to title and intermittently throughout, trimmed close at upper margin shaving a slight portion of the title text, some spotting, small stains, etc. Evans 38137; Sabin 56953; HRS Ohio 13; Together with Laws of the Territory of the United States, North-West of the River Ohio; passed at the second session of the First General Assembly, begun and holden at Chillicothe ... Vol. II. Chillicothe: Printed by Winship & Willis, 1802. First edition. Contemporary calf. 7 7/8 x 4 3/4 inches (19 x 13 cm); 112 pp., [A]-O^(4). With ownership signature of "James McBride/Hamilton/Ohio", intermittent stamps, ink numbering, split to title at gutter, half-title on heavier paper (or possibly original wrapper?) possibly misbound after title, upper board nearly detached, trimmed close at places. I. 8 3/8 x 4 3/4 inches (21.6 x 12.5 cm); 253 pp. [A]-2G^(4) 2H^(3) Intermittent stamps, generally a tall, wide-margined copy but the fore-edge trimmed close at places. Shaw & Shoemaker 2811; Sabin 56953; HRS Ohio 26. This very rare set of the Northwest Territory laws were printed in both Cincinnati and Chillicothe as Ohio prepared for entry into the Union. No copy of any work here has been sold at auction, and it is very rare to find all three volumes together. The second volume, which is in a contemporary binding, bears the signature of Ohio pioneer James McBride. The lot sold with two related facsimiles. C The New York City Bar Association
