Nunez de Avendano's treatise on the laws of hawking and hunting is extremely rare: according to American Book Prices Current , only the Marcel Jeanson copy has sold at auction in the past 30 years (1 March 1987, bound by Marius Michel . This "was the first Castilian printed book on hunting and the first to deal with its legal and moral aspects. The book was first published in 1543. Avendano wrote the Aviso to show the Castilian aristocracy its responsibilities regarding hunting.
