A rare and original ‘Bimbo Racer V12’, two seater child’s motorized car by SILA, Italian, 1956. Built in Italy and said to have been styled by none other than Giovanni Michelotti, these wonderful child’s cars were based on the Ferrari 375MM Spyder, with a shapely sculpted fiberglass body, electric motor, and working lights – what more could a kid ask for? Measuring 170cm in length, these were fun child’s sports cars in the same idiom of the Baby Bugattis of the Twenties and it is thought that like those a number ended up in the families of prominent people, some say even Dwight Eisenhower’s grandchildren had them! Imported into the USA by Ferrari, Inc. of San Francisco, period advertising in this country proclaimed them as ‘A Real Car – for pre-teen men and women of distinction’.
