O'NEILL, Eugene (1888-1953). The Provincetown Plays. First Series . New York: Frank Shay, 1916. 12 o . Later quarter morocco, uncut (first two leaves and edges stained red); cloth slipcase. Provenance : Louis Ell, set designer and stage manager for the Provincetown Players (presentation inscriptions). FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by O'Neill to Louis Ell on the front blank: "To Mr. Hamlet with my best Gene O'Neill." This copy is additionally inscribed to Ell by George Cram Cook, who was an actor and organizer of the theatre group, Louise Bryant, whose play The Game is also included in this volume, and William Stuart an actor in O'Neill's production of Bound East for Cardiff that appears in this volume.
