(Occasional light scattered foxing, a very few pages browned, title lightly soiled and with date of publication transcribed in ink.) Contemporary vellum, covers gilt with the arms of the city of Amsterdam within two frames of tools including the city shield, spine in compartments each with the city shield blocked in gilt (ties lacking, upper joint starting, vellum soiled). Provenance: inscription, dated 1829, deleted from prize leaf. FIRST EDITION, IN A PRIZE BINDING, of this early survey of the antiquities of classical Sicily, including architectural remains, numismatics and epigraphy.
