Southwell, 6/1st Scottish Division, Royal Artillery, servant to Lieutenant-Colonel Slade, Chief of Intelligence Department, at Kirbekan Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 4 clasps, Suakin 1884, El-Teb-Tamaai, The Nile 1884-85, Kirbekan (25453 Gunr. R. Southwell, 6/1st Sco. Div. R.A.); Khedive’s Star 1882, unnamed, good very fine (2) £400-500 Footnote The only man of 6/1st Scottish Division R.A. present at Kirbekan. Gunner Robert Southwell appears on an individual roll for the Nile and Kirbekan, signed by Lieutenant-Colonel F. G. Slade, late Chief of Intelligence Department, River Column, Nile Field Force. In a note at the bottom of the roll he states, ‘This man was my servant, and was in the zareeba (sic) during the action of Kirbekan.’ Sold with relevant copy of the roll.
