Capital spaces with guide letters. Woodcut architectural title border. (Light worming to lower blank section of final leaf.) 18th-century grey boards. Provenance : Nicolas Benedictus (early inscription on verso of final leaf); Dr.Arthur S[?]aony (ownership stamp). FIRST EDITION OF A RARE EARLY WORK ON SYPHILIS. Authorities have tended to neglect this work in favour of Fracastoro's poem Syphilis, sive morbus gallicus published in Verona four years earlier. Brunet IV.394. Durling 3536; not in Wellcome.
