1000 PAUL EVANS (1931 - 1987); PAUL EVANS STUDIO Unique and important cabinet, New Hope, PA, 1977; Welded, polychromed, and bronzed steel, forged steel, 23 karat gold leaf, brass Cityscape panels, laminate interior; Welded signature Paul Evans 1977 DJ on door, etched Paul Evans on brass panel; 84 1/2" x 50 1/2" x 18 1/2"; Provenance: Original owner, commissioned from the artist The welded "DJ" on the door stand for Dorsey Reading and Junior, the craftsmen who worked on the cabinet. This is perhaps the cleanest original finish we have ever seen. For a special client, Evans grouped some of his favorite design elements in way we have not seen before. Original enameled finish and 23 karat gilt edges are in excellent original condition. A few minor dents and some light oxidation to a couple of brass panels (difficult to see), mostly along base. Overall very good to excellent condition.
