Title: Pay voucher for Valentin Opp, signed by Thomas Mifflin as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Author: Mifflin, Thomas Place: Philadelphia Publisher: Date: Sept. 29, 1787 Description: Partially printed document filled out in ink. 14x18.5 cm (5½x7¼"), ornately matted and framed under plexiglass along with a portrait and engraved metal descriptive plaque. Overall 50x63 cm (19¾x24¾"). Thomas Mifflin (1744-1800), merchant and politician from Philadelphia, served as a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, was a member of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly, a Continental Congressman from Pennsylvania, President of the Continental Congress, and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787, and also served as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, President of the Pennsylvania Supreme Executive Council and the first Governor of Pennsylvania.
